Satel and the environment
Satel obtained the ISO 14001:2004 environmental certificate in 2008 but the company has a long tradition of environmentally friendly practices.
When the RoHS directive of the European Union, which limits the use of hazardous substances in electronics, came into effect in 2006, Satel had an advantage compared to the competition. As a pioneer of adopting new manufacturing technologies, Satel was already using cutting edge processes.
Satel maintains continuous processes for reducing energy consumption and improving recycling efficiency in production as well as other operations. Initiatives for reducing the environmental footprint of the company are reviewed and updated regularly.
Three year warranty
Mastery in manufacturing is vital to Satel, because the critical applications of our customers require reliable operation without variations or exceptions. Satel radio modems are made to last. The standard warranty is three years but a radio modem can serve over ten years.

Finding a parking space can be frustrating in congested traffic. Information about available spaces in different parking areas can be sent by Satel radio modems to remote street displays. Drivers can avoid driving around in search of a free place and save both their nerves and the environment.
Buses and trams can be given green waves in traffic lights by sending priority signals to traffic lights. By preventing unnecessary braking and stopping, travel times can be shortened, fuel consumption and emissions reduced and rides made smoother.
Keeping track of consumption
In order to save energy and water, every one of us needs to be aware of how much we consume. In homes and companies, regular consumption tracking can be made easy by automated meter reading. Utility suppliers can automatically read electricity, water or gas meters with radio modems that send the reading monthly, weekly or daily to information and billing systems. The consumption statistics can be provided to consumers together with the bills and the utility companies can use the statistics to estimate the future needs and streamline their processes accordingly.
