Wireless transfer of alarm signals

A security agency operating on the market of security and protection of property developed a system of roundtheclock electronic monitoring of protected facilities. The sites protected are dispersed over wide areas, far from the company headquarters. In order to effectively retrieve alarm signals and manage intervention teams, the company sought for a system which would ensure the ability to collect data within the radius of up to 50 km from the base station. From the multitude of products available on the market, the company selected a solution based on SATEL radio modems.

SATELCODE transmitters installed at the sites retrieve data generated by alarm exchanges, and transmit them as a coded information by using radio requencies 140…170 MHz to the base station. Depending on the type of the alarm exchange, the transmitting equipment includes four or eight two-stage inputs. The signals from the SATELCODE transmitters are received at the base station by the SATELNODE receiver, which is connected to the surveillance computer by a serial interface.

In the event of an alarm, a signal is visible on the main screen showing the layout of all the sites. By selecting the site in question, the operator opens a detailed information window containing all the data necessary to perform the alarm procedure as well as the history of alarms pertaining to that particular site.

Wide range of applications

Digitally encoded radio signals can carry information of various kinds of events, depending on the functionality of the system. The security-related applications typically include areas like anti-burglary, fire prevention and environment protection monitoring, as well as follow-up and control of the operation of equipment in dispersed industrial systems, such as road lighting systems, waterworks and transformer stations. Wireless alarm transfer can be utilised in setting up security systems functioning within industrial premises or administrative complexes.

The SATELCODE and SATELNODE alarm transfer system is a practical means for the monitoring of facilities and technological parameters like temperature, pressure, level or gas concentration, as well as of unauthorised intervention.
