Alarm transfer networks - Monitoring - Passage control
How to set-up a local alarm surveillance system
Feasibility Study
Few years ago a security company in Estonia decided to make an alarm surveillance network that is fast, reliable, economical and must be expandable. According to their feasibility study, an own independent wireless system was the best solution for their purposes. To make such a system fulfilling their demanding requirements, they found that the best and the most cost effective solution was SATEL Local Alarm System. Today the system is in operation together with the security company’s monitoring software.
User group
One of their biggest customer groups comes from private sector and the wireless security service that they get is monitoring of their houses and its environment. The other big group is business sector that gets security monitoring service of their company premises.
Installation Package
The basic installation package consists of a door by-pass switch, alarm sensors (door-, window-, perimeter-, fire-), power supply and SATEL Alarm Transmitter. It is possible to connect eight different sensors to one Alarm Transmitter. If any of the sensors is activated the system triggers an alarm message transmission. In order to monitor the system reliability, the transmitter has also other useful features like sending alive -information. This information is sent automatically on a daily basis.
Operation
The system capacity enables up to 65 000 customers in one system. In order to separate one alarm from another, every transmitter and all of the inputs have their own individual addresses. When an alarm occurs, it is immediately and automatically transmitted to the sophisticated Central Monitoring Station where the alarms are handled individually by the Service provider’s personnel, who contacts for example the mobile guards. At the Central Monitoring Station they have also tape stations for log and long term filing.
Expandable
A normal system (cell) consists of several Wireless Alarm Transmitters and one Alarm Receiver, which is located at the Central Station. Such a system covers about 10-15 km radius and can have several thousands users. However, in case it is necessary to extend the coverage area of a radio network, SATELLINE radio modems can be used as a repeater station. In this configuration you can have several cells, which are combined at the Central Station. The distance from the remote cells to the Central station can be tens of kilometers. Today the Estonian system has over 10 000 SATEL Alarm Transmitters and it is continuously growing.
